What is the Aiki Atlas Foundation?
The Aiki Atlas Foundation (AAF) is a non-profit corporation. It was established in February 2002, for the purpose of supporting and promoting the martial art of Aikido.
AAF's mission is "To cultivate and support the practice and philosophy of Aikido".
How will AAF carry out its mission?
The Aiki Atlas Foundation supports aikido in a number of ways. Here are just a few:
- Sponsor seminars and demonstrations of Aikido in venues in the U.S. to increase awareness of Aikido and its principles.
- Provide funding for Aikido instruction in order to train practitioners and future instructors.
- Provide funding for the development of literature promoting Aikido.
- Provide support for the purchase of materials and furnishings to be used in Aikido instruction.
- Support development and maintenance of Aikido facilities, including dojos, Aikido schools, campuses and buildings.
- Develop and maintain a website and other communication vehicles to disseminate information about the AAF foundation's activities.
Where does AAF get its funding?
Aiki Atlas Foundation, Inc. holds non-profit status with the Federal government and is classified as a 501(c)(3) entity. This means that AAF can accept tax-deductible donations. Financial contributions and/or donations of real estate property, etc. come from the Aikido community and the general public. An immediate focus for AAF is to initiate a capital and an endowment campaign to create operational funds so AAF can fulfill its purpose.

Yes, indeed. AAF provides a means for individual contributions to pool together, grow, and to have a greater impact. If you are a support of Aikido, your contributions to AAF will help worthy projects come to fruition. Donations to AAF are fully tax-deductible.

A donation can be made at any time. If you're sending a check, please make it payable to
Aiki Atlas Foundation, Inc. If you wish to donate real estate or real goods, please first describe the property or goods in a letter to the AAF Board. Stocks and bonds may also be transferred to the Foundation.
In all cases, you will receive a thank-you letter containing reporting information required by the IRS.
How can I help AAF?
AAF is newly established and will need a period of time to concentrate on fund raising and establishing its financial base before significant funding of projects can commence.
